What to look for in cost allocation software in Normal, Illinois

Hidden allocation logic is what makes cost data untrustworthy. PlaidCloud makes the assignment rules explicit, versioned and traceable end to end, so shared services, overhead and IT chargeback land where they actually belong — and stay explainable when someone challenges them. Multi-step and reciprocal allocations are first-class, and results can be pushed back into the ERP or downstream reporting. This site focuses on the costing and allocation side of the problem. The recurring failure mode is not accuracy, it is defensibility: models that produce a number nobody outside finance can interrogate. PlaidCloud keeps the assignment rules explicit, versioned and traceable to source, and runs them at full transaction detail rather than on pre-aggregated balances.

If you are rebuilding the cost model rather than shopping for a report: check support for multi-step and reciprocal allocations, performance at full detail rather than pre-aggregated summaries, and segregation of duties on rule changes.

How it works

How PlaidCloud Works

Connect, model, and deploy on one platform — no black boxes, no lock-in.

01 · Connect

Connect directly to your source systems

ERPs, CRMs, warehouses, and files — 140+ connectors plus a unified REST step. Ingest financial and transactional data without a rebuild.

02 · Prepare & Blend

Prepare and blend data of any size

Pre-built standard steps sanitize, organize, and align data from multiple sources, with AI-assisted low-code transformation doing the heavy lifting.

03 · Model & Allocate

Build driver-based models and allocations

Assign costs from sources to targets using real driver data, with activity mapping and a full traceback on every allocated number.

04 · Build with AI

Build workflows and apps with AI

Describe what you need through your tenant’s MCP server. PlaidCloud builds and deploys it, and answers “what moved margin?” with attributed root cause.

05 · Deploy & Share

Deploy apps and share results

Schedule runs, publish Apache Superset dashboards, and share governed results across the business under your existing roles and permissions.

Why teams switch

Better. Faster. Cheaper. Safer.

Most stacks make you pick two. PlaidCloud refuses the trade-off.

One platform, end to end

Your own open Iceberg lakehouse, a visual and AI workflow canvas, enterprise dashboards, and deployable AI apps — in one place, with no black boxes and no lock-in.

Better

One platform, end to end

Your ERP does not measure true profitability.

Most finance teams still calculate profitability using spreadsheets built on top of ERP exports. This creates hidden cost allocations, slow reporting cycles, and limited visibility into margin.
